A little while ago, I was looking on some web sites, and I was surprised by the lack of "grasshopperness" in most origami grasshoppers. Many times, the legs and antennae are too thin and short, the body is too skimpy, the model is not closed back, the wings come out of the body wrong, and the head does not look like a grasshopper (these comments have a few exceptions: Lang's comes to mind). So, getting some grasshopper pictures off the net, I went through four different folding patterns for one of my own. Here are some pictures of some of my attempts. This model was folded from 14" Michael LaFosse's Origamido paper.
